Oakwell Beer Spa FAQs

Oakwell Beer Spa in Denver does things differently – in a good way.

Whether you’ve never heard of a ‘beer spa’ or want to learn all there is to know, we answer common questions below.

General

What is a beer spa?

A beer spa is a day spa that offers beer-infused spa services, most notably beer baths, where guests soak in water infused with hops, malt, and medicinal herbs.

Beer spas also have craft beers on tap so that guests can enjoy adult beverages before, during, and after spa treatments.

What does Oakwell Beer Spa’s full spa day include?

Oakwell Beer Spa’s full spa day includes a 90-minute spa session in a private Beer Therapy™ Room. This includes a detoxifying infrared sauna session, a refreshing cold shower, and a warm, bubbly beer bath.

You can also top your experience off with a 15 or 30-minute Zero Gravity Massage Experience in the Relaxation Lounge, where you can enjoy a full-body, hands-off massage.

You can also hang out in the cozy taproom before and after your spa day experience.

What are your hours?

Oakwell Beer Spa is open seven days a week – Monday through Sunday, from 8:00 am to 10:30 pm.

Where can I find parking?

We encourage guests to park in the large, paved parking lot found on the Southwest corner of 31st Ave and Marion St. There’s also ample unmetered street parking on Downing St and 30th Ave.

For guests who need accessible parking, please use the designated ADA parking spot located directly behind our building, which you can access through the alley off 30th Ave.

Please don't park behind the studio apartments next door or in the non-ADA spot directly behind our building, as those are reserved for our neighboring residents. And remember – we want you to have fun, but please don't drink and drive.

Where can I learn about your tastings and events?

You can find information about our tastings and events on our Facebook and Instagram pages @oakwellbeerspa.

Can I organize a private party at Oakwell Beer Spa?

Of course! Oakwell Beer Spa can host private parties. For groups of 3 to 4 people, we suggest a Garage Party where we join two Beer Therapyâ„¢ Rooms together via a garage door for a 90-minute Beer Therapy session. For larger groups, you can rent the entire spa for up to three hours.

To inquire about a private party, email us at [email protected]

I like to support local – are you a local, small business?

Yes! Oakwell Beer Spa is a local, woman-owned, small business.

Do you have a guest age limit?

Any guests over 14 years old are welcome to experience our spa facilities and taproom. A parent or a legal guardian must accompany any person under 18 years old.

To comply with liquor laws, only those 21 and up will be issued an RFID card to access our beer wall. If one or more people in your group are under 21, we can't allow anyone in the group to bring beverages into the private Beer Therapyâ„¢ Room.

Are you hiring?

We always look for upbeat, friendly, and responsible individuals to join the Oakwell Beer Spa team. If you want to learn more about our available opportunities, please email your resume, contact information, and a short blurb about yourself to [email protected].

If you prefer to email, you can email us at [email protected] to book an appointment or ask us a question.

Please note that we require a credit card to book, so you’ll need to have your card information handy.

Do you accept walk-ins?

Our Beer Therapyâ„¢ Rooms book up quickly, so appointments are always encouraged.

If you’re just stopping by for a Zero Gravity Massage experience or a pint in the taproom, an appointment isn't required.

A parent or a legal guardian must accompany any person under 18 years old.

How early should I check in for my appointment?

We ask that you check in 30 minutes before your Beer Therapyâ„¢ Room appointment so you can fill out the intake forms, get set up on the beer wall, pour yourself a beverage and ease yourself into this unique experience.

Do I need to fill out any paperwork?

Not until you arrive. We will have a tablet at the reception desk for you to fill out our check-in form.

What is your cancellation policy?

We prepare your Beer Therapy™ Room specifically for you, so we respectfully request at least 24 hours’ notice if you cannot join us for your scheduled reservation or 48 hours' notice for Garage Parties.

Appointments canceled or rescheduled with less than the required hours' notice will be charged the total amount of your reserved services to the credit card on file, plus a 20% gratuity to compensate our staff for missed wages.

Gift cards cannot be used for cancellation charges, and we do not provide refunds for cancellation charges.

What if I arrive late for my appointment?

If you arrive late for your scheduled appointment, your time in the room may be reduced to ensure we can accommodate those booked after you.

Shortened appointments due to late arrivals will still be charged at the total value.

If you fail to show up for your appointment ('No Show'), or if we do not hear from you within 10 minutes after your scheduled appointment time, your appointment will be canceled, and the total amount of your reserved services will be charged to the credit card on file.

A 20% gratuity will also be charged to the credit card on file to compensate our staff for missed wages.

Gift cards cannot be used for no-show charges, and we do not provide refunds for no-show charges.

Do you have a membership program?

Our membership program is coming soon! But first, before we create our membership levels, we want to hear from our guests about their ideal membership package and pricing.

Interested in becoming a member? Please write to us at [email protected] to tell us what you would like included.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept payment via debit card and all major credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. For health and safety purposes, we don’t accept cash payments.

Can I add gratuity when I check out, and how much is recommended?

20% gratuity is customary.

Our Beer Therapists and Spakeepers put great effort into providing top-notch customer service and a sparkling clean facility. As such, tipping 20%, as you would at a restaurant or traditional spa, is customary.

We’re a tip-sharing establishment, and all tips are split equally between all our employees working that day.

Upon check-out, you’ll have the opportunity to add gratuity before finalizing your transaction.

Are gift cards refundable?

Our gift cards are non-refundable. However, the value never expires.

Taproom

I don’t want to book a spa service, can I just stop by for a beer?

Of course! We welcome anyone to stop by to try our self-serve beer wall, even if you don't want to book a spa service. With that in mind, we prioritize our spa guests and reserve the right to limit entrance if we are at full capacity.

Do you have a guest age limit?

Guests over 14 years old are welcome to our taproom and to use our spa facilities. A parent or a legal guardian must accompany persons under 18 years old. Guests under 21 years old can’t consume alcoholic beverages.

What beers do you have on tap?

We’re committed to supporting local, so you'll only find Colorado-based beer and craft beverages in our taproom.

Each month, we have a different local brewery featured during a month-long tap takeover. We feature the brewery's five tastiest beers on tap that month.

Check out our social media pages and blog for the latest details on our partner brewery of the month.

What do you charge for taproom beverages?

We charge beverages by the ounces you pour. Price per ounce varies, and you'll find information on this at each tap on the self-serve beer wall.

Do you have non-alcoholic beverages at Oakwell Beer Spa?

Yes! We understand beer isn’t everyone’s thing, or sometimes you’re in the mood for something else. We also serve wine, cider, kombucha, and other non-alcoholic beverages.

Do you serve food in the taproom?

Yes! We know what it’s like to get the munchies while drinking, so we have provided a complimentary selection of snacks for you to enjoy while hanging out in our taproom. We also offer charcuterie boards for purchase featuring a delicious selection of cured meats and imported cheeses.

How long can you stay at Oakwell Beer Spa?

Most guests stay at Oakwell Beer Spa between 2.5 to 3 hours, although there is no time limit to how long you can stay and hang out.

We suggest checking in 30 minutes before your Beer Therapy Room appointment. Then, you can hang out in the taproom after your appointment for as long as you’d like.

Beer Therapyâ„¢ Rooms

What’s a Beer Therapy™ Room?

We have four private Beer Therapyâ„¢ Rooms at Oakwell Beer Spa, where the magic of beer therapy takes place.

Each Beer Therapyâ„¢ Room has a cedar hydrotherapy tub, a full-spectrum infrared sauna, a rain shower, and a relaxation deck.

During your 90-minute Beer Therapyâ„¢ Room session, you can jump back and forth between the amenities at your leisure.

How many people can you fit in a Beer Therapyâ„¢ Room?

Each Beer Therapy Roomâ„¢ can accommodate one or two people per session, so you can book your Beer Therapyâ„¢ Room alone or enjoy it with a loved one or friend.

Can you accommodate larger groups of people in the Beer Therapyâ„¢ Rooms?

Yes, of course! Call ahead for groups of 3 or 4, so we can join two of our Beer Therapyâ„¢ Rooms using our roll-up garage doors.

We can also accommodate groups of 5+ by combining all four of our Beer Therapyâ„¢ Rooms. You can also check out our event packages to rent the entire space.

For bookings of more than two people, please call us at (720) 810-1484 to figure out what works best for your needs.

What is an Infrared Sauna?

All our Beer Therapyâ„¢ Rooms have Infrared Saunas for you to use during your session. Unlike traditional saunas, which heat the entire room, Infrared Saunas use advanced infrared waves that directly warm the body to offer various healing benefits, including relaxation, pain relief, and improved sleep.

Can I bring my drink from the taproom into the Beer Therapyâ„¢ Room?

Absolutely! Upon check-in, we'll provide you with a triple-wall, insulated, stainless steel tumbler to use in the taproom and Beer Therapyâ„¢ Rooms.

These tumblers have been custom-made to ensure your drinks stay cold, even while you're in the sauna, beer bath, and shower.

We also provide a robe and slippers in each Beer Therapyâ„¢ Room in case you need to run out and refill your drink in the middle of your session.

The only place you cannot bring a drink is our Relaxation Lounge, where our Zero Gravity Massage Chairs are.

What is a Beer Therapist?

Our Beer Therapists are our friendly customer service attendants available at the check-in counter and taproom to help you with whatever you need throughout your experience at Oakwell Beer Spa.

Our Beer Therapists will guide you from start to finish, from helping you get set up on the self-serve beer wall to escorting you to your Beer Therapyâ„¢ Room at your designated appointment time.

What do I wear for a spa day at Oakwell Beer Spa?

Your Beer Therapy™ Circuit takes place in the privacy of your own room, so you’re free to wear whatever you’d like. You can wear your bathing suit or your birthday suit.

We recommend comfortable street clothes when you're hanging out in the taproom for drinks and socializing and in the Relaxation Lounge for the Zero Gravity Massage experience.

Do you really put beer in the beer baths?

Not quite. As we fill the beer baths, we infuse the water with a seasonal herbal blend that always uses beneficial beer ingredients, hops and malted barley, as a base.

Our in-house herbalist curates a new herbal beer bath blend every month, incorporating herbs like lavender, calendula, chamomile, and peppermint, depending on the season.

These herbs and beer ingredients slowly brew as the water fills the tub, creating a giant beer tea – except instead of drinking it, you soak in it!

Do you put yeast in the beer baths?

No, we don’t put yeast in the beer baths, and the mixture in the tub isn’t fermented. The water in the bath is infused with a beer-inspired herbal blend that always includes a base of hops and barley, plus other seasonal ingredients.

Is bathing in beer good for the skin?

Yes, bathing in beer is extremely good for the skin. Various studies have found that beer’s main ingredients, hops and malted barley, contain medicinal properties that improve your skin, hair, and overall wellness.

Hops is a natural sedative with numerous calming and anti-aging properties. Barley is packed full of antioxidants and vitamins, particularly Vitamin B2 and B3, which are known to nourish hair, nails, and skin.

Do you clean the beer baths after each use?

Of course. Just like we wouldn’t want to bathe in someone else’s bath, we don’t expect you to either.

After each use, our tubs are fully drained, disinfected, and refilled with clean water. Our promise is that when you dip into your beer bath, you can rest easy knowing you are the first to use it.

Are there any rules of etiquette for the Beer Therapyâ„¢ Rooms?

Yes, thank you for asking! When enjoying your Beer Therapyâ„¢ Room, please be mindful of your noise level, as this is meant to be a relaxing space.

If you need to run to the restroom or taproom, we also ask that you dry yourself off and slip on the provided robe and slippers to avoid creating a slip hazard in our common spaces.

Can I enjoy a beer bath if I am celiac?

While most people with celiac are only sensitive to gluten when ingested, we have spoken with people concerned about bathing in a bath with barley. To accommodate everyone's needs, we have developed a gluten-free beer bath in collaboration with Holidaily Brewing which replaces the malted barley with millet.

If you would like a gluten-free beer bath, let one of our Beer Therapists know after booking.

Safety, Security & Accessibility

What are the items that are prohibided to bring?

Outside food and beverages, including snacks, alcoholic beverages, and non-alcoholic beverages, are prohibited within our facility. Outside cosmetic products, including face masks, essential oils, body oils, and body scrubs, are also prohibited from being used within our facility. For your safety and the safety of others, guests and their possessions are subject to inspection as a condition of admittance. Our team reserves the right to deny admittance to intoxicated patrons.

Are you ADA accessible?

We firmly believe in making Oakwell Beer Spa a safe and welcoming space for all people, regardless of physical ability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Due to this, our facility is entirely ADA-accessible. This includes a designated ADA Beer Therapyâ„¢ Room with an ADA shower bench, sauna ramp, and mechanical spa lift.

If you'd like to book our ADA-accessible Beer Therapyâ„¢ Room or need other accommodations, please let us know when booking your appointment so we can have everything ready for you.

Can I drink alcohol before coming to Oakwell Beer Spa?

We encourage our guests to enjoy a pint or two to aid in the relaxation process, but we do not recommend overindulging. Like any other bar or spa, we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who appears intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Please remember that Oakwell Beer Spa is a day spa and wellness space, not a nightclub or dive bar. If any of our guests are disturbing the well-being or peace of others, our Beer Therapists reserve the right to ask that person to leave without a refund.

Is it safe to combine alcohol, saunas, and hot tubs?

Combining alcohol with saunas and hot tubs is a frequent tradition worldwide, from having a stein at the hot mineral springs in Germany to taking vodka shots in the saunas in Finland. As with anything, it's important to stay in tune with how your body is feeling, stay hydrated, and take a break when needed.

At Oakwell Beer Spa, we encourage drinking beer and other beverages in moderation to support relaxation. That said, we don’t condone overindulging and reserve the right to cancel or cut an appointment short for anyone who appears intoxicated.

To ensure the safety of our guests, we maintain our saunas and hot tubs at a moderate temperature, with the beer baths never going above 100F and the saunas staying below 160F. We also provide cold drinking water throughout our facility to help our guests stay hydrated.

Can I visit Oakwell Beer Spa if I’m pregnant?

We're not licensed to practice medicine, so please consult your physician for advice on which treatments are safe. In general, hot tubs and saunas aren't recommended for those who are expecting, but if your physician says it's okay, please ask one of our Beer Therapists to lower the heat of the sauna and hot tub to your desired temperature.

It's also strongly advised to consult your physician before using the Zero Gravity Massage Chairs, especially if you are in your first or third trimester.

What precautions do I need to take if I have an allergy or medical issue?

Please alert our team during the booking process if you have a specific allergy we need to know about. The herbal mixes that we use in our beer baths change on a seasonal basis, so if you have any concerns, please consult one of our Beer Therapists, and we'll figure out the best way to accommodate you.

If you have any medical issues, including seizures, recently broken bones, high or low blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, metal or silicone implants, or a chronic illness, we ask that you consult your doctor before using the beer bath, Infrared Sauna, or Zero Gravity Massage Chairs.
